Sarita Dyer grew up in Augusta, Georgia and is a proud graduate of the "Pride of Augusta", Lucy Craft Laney Comprehensive High School. Upon graduation, she enlisted into the United States Army. She is married to Command Sergeant Major (retired) Kerry Dyer and they have four amazing children Kandace (Nursing Student), Orielle (Dekalb County Firefighter/EMT), Kerri Linn (student/mother to our beautiful grandson) and Kevin (Infantry Officer in the US Army).
As a Combat veteran, Sarita Dyer served nearly three decades of faithful service to our country. She went onto a very productive and exciting career serving in a multitude of leadership positions across the globe. She achieved the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major, a two-time Bronze star award combat veteran, and served in four combat zones: Operation Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia), Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) Operation New Dawn (Iraq) and led the first all-female engagement team in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan).
Sarita attended all required military professional development schools graduating in the top 1% of her classes. Sarita is a proud graduate of the US Army’s Sergeant Major Academy Class 59, Fort Bliss, Texas. Sarita holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Drury University, Springfield, Missouri; a Master of Science in Environmental Management from Webster University, Saint Louis Missouri, and a Master of Professional Studies in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University, Washington, DC.
Sarita’s culminating assignments include the Army’s prestigious Congressional Fellow Program where she worked as a Department of Defense advisor to United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Washington, DC and in the Office of the Chief of Legislative Liaison, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. as a Legislative Liaison.
Since retiring from the military and relocating to Henry County Sarita has continued to serve her community. She currently serves as a District member for District 3 Henry County Democratic Committee (HCDC), and serves as a Board member for her community’s HOA. She was elected by the residents of Georgia’s Congressional District 10 to serve as a 2020 Presidential Delegate for President Joe Biden; She served as a Henry County Delegate for the 2018 Georgia Democratic Convention, She was appointed as canvass captain for Stacey Abrams 2016 Gubernatorial Campaign knocking on over 20,000+ doors ,
She served as the volunteer coordinator for Denise Gaines-Edmonds State Representative Campaign, She planned and orchestrated the 1st ever Kennedy-Carter Fundraising Gala for the Henry County Democratic Committee and she has also volunteered as a mentor for the Ola High School Air Force ROTC program.
